    Default LOW-K3Y - '07 Speed 3

Alright I posted a thread in the newbie forum, but I wanted to make a post in the member's ride area to keep up with my build, so here goes.

A lot of people may know me by MM Boost/4CE-FED on m247/m3f.com.

Here is a short-story on the history of my car to present day.

My very first set was a set of 18x8 +45 wheels from ebay (rs4 replicas) with 235/40/18 nexen n3000, but I don't have any pictures of that set. After that, I wanted to step up a bit, and went with something a little nicer.

    My first somewhatagressive setup:

    18x8.5" +48 Rota SVN Hyperblack 235/40/18 Nexen N3000 - BC Coils

The paint started chipping, so then I got a wild bone in me, and decided to have them powdercoated blue. I wanted to get as close as possible to Volk's Magnesium Blue, but in the end, I had the guy put silver metallic flake in it, and it made them more of a brighter blue (which I still enjoyed).

With this setup, I ran them with 5mm spacers making them +43 effectively, and ran 235/40/18 Falken RT-615s:

Then, I had my wedding coming up and got strapped for cash in order to pay for our photographer, so I sold the wheels and went back to stock for the winter.

Then, last spring at tax time, I bought my next set of wheels, 18x8.5" Sterling ST-15s +45 offset (with 5mm spacers, making them +40 effectively) and ran 225/40/18 Nitto NeoGens. I liked this set pretty well, but at the same time, the look just didn't fit this car the way I had hoped. I got them cheap, took a chance on them and they did the job for a while before I got bored with them.

So back in September, I drove to Charlotte, NC and sold these to a friend of mine, and then took the cash an ordered a set of 18x8 +35 Sonic Tuning ST8's in Hypersilver. I ran these with 5mm spacers in the front, but not in the rear due to very very minor rubbing annoyances with the pinch weld on the bumper tab. I ran these with 225/40/18 Nitto Neo Gens like the last wheels.

(5mm spacers are NOT on in this picture ^^^^^^^)

    Present Day

I am currently riding on the 17" snowflakes for winter, but I have decided that i am going to run the silver ST's again this spring, but I am running the 5mm spacers all around and will be running with 18x8 +30 this season. I have a deep respect for you guys with 9-10" wheels with stupid camber and stretched wheels, but I am more about squared setups with aggressive fitment on my own car for performance purposes. So I won't fit in with a lot of you guys, but at least we will share that love for slammed cars. I recently just received my SPC rear camber arms and a new set of rear shocks for my BC coils, and plan on going lower in the rear. With the spacers, i will be likely shaving the fender down and running some negative camber and then throwing the wheels back on. I ordered a set of the Muteki Burning Blue lug nuts for the wheels, and I also go a set of flat center caps for the wheels to get rid of the big hunky cheap looking ones that came on the wheels. To go with the wheels, I ordered a g2 black caliper paint kit, and everything should be pulled together. I also have an 06 STi V-Limited front lip on the way and basically will be the guniea pig for the Speed owners to see if it fits. In the the middle of March, I already have an appointment to get my roof sprayed black for the 2-tone look, and will match my upper and lower grills.

Thats it for now, but the car should be coming together quite quickly this spring. C/C is more than welcomed.

lol coming from the wheels I had before those...yes, they are considered legit. I bought the wheels, and a week after bolting them on half the paint around the lug nut area was completely gone. I didn't mean legit as in Volks, Work, SSR, etc. type wheels.

Thanks for kind words so far guys. It is a work in progress and I am NO where near as aggressive/low as most of the guys on here, but I feel like it will be coming together nicely. Next weekend the new rear shocks, spc camber arms, and rear spacers go on along with re-installing my wheels. I am also going to roll/pull my rear fenders a little more, trimming down the bumper support tab, and also hopefully getting the STi front lip to fit. I will hopefully get some new pictures next weekend.

the driver side stock tweeter blew this morning...Bose ftl! had to order a new set of replacements this morning, they should be here by this weekend and will be going on along with the plethora of other parts. Coulda used that money towards other parts I am needing, but I guess they will have to wait. Hopefully have some newer pics for you guys on Sunday.

lip, lug nuts, and the tweeters all came in, so tomorrow everything is getting done - can't wait. The STi lip looks like it will fit damn near perfect with a little bit of trimming on the inside fender well. The contour of the lip follows the lines of the car, and the raised part in the middle fits right into that indentation on the middle of the front bumper. I will make sure to post pictures of the process...hopefully this lip catches on and everyone starts running it. Just sitting under the car looked awesome, so I can't wait to see it mounted along with putting my wheels back on, the burning blue lugs, and the black calipers. Tomorrow will be a fun day!

okay guys...I got the car done this weekend, and yes, i was able to get the STi lip to work. However, it is not for the faint at heart lol. If you are not into modifying things to make it fit right and don't have a good eye for things lining up, it is not for you. I will post pics today on my lunch break of the fit and finish, and will get full pics of the car once I get it cleaned. I had a full day between replacing the shocks, rear camber arms, the lip, painting the calipers and a few other odds and ends. But i must say this...the lip looks incredible, fits right onto the front of the car and I could NOT be happier. It looks like it came on the car or was at least made for this car. Like I said, pics will be up on my lunch break. Hope you guys like it as much as I do!

Haha how much cutting did you have to do to fit it?

Here are the pics I got after we finished:

Car is le dirty...please excuse. As you can see, I got the lip formed to the bumper dag on near perfect. I had to end up cutting the ends of the lip about 2-3 inches, and also cut an L-shape into the end caps so that the end of the lip butted up flush against that little splash shield on the edge of the fender/bumper. It took two of us, one of us stretching the lip and the other running screws into it from underneath. I started off by marking center part of my bumper, center part of the lip, and matching those up. Then put double sided tape on the middle, stuck it on the bumper, and then stretched it out one side at a time, ran the screws up into it and trimmed the ends. Walaa! I LOVE it...could not be happier.

    Oh, and:

Ill snap a pic after work today...but no more until the car is clean. 8 inches of snow last week wreaked havoc on mah car.

Thanks though...I am very pleased with the lip. If something ever happens to this one, then I will get another. No regrets. Now...my next project is getting a pair of bayson r sideskirts and doing a custom rear lip. I already have an idea for that off of a different car like I did with this front lip

that would be my next move as well (sideskirt extensions) and I would love to see what you have in mind for the rear

I got something cool in mind for the rear, I have it narrowed between two options. But the bayson r sideskirts are a definite. Those will be next along with getting my roof sprayed black.

    2 moar piktarz!

Car is teh dirtah. I will clean it this weekend and get better pics. Those were quick after walking out of work yesterday.

Nice, clean and subtle. Looks great. You could throw some spacers up front for those wheels tho

I have 5mm spacers on the front...they are 18x8 +30 with 225/40 right now. I haven't messed with 10mm spacers or replacing studs, so I have been kinda apprehensive with all that. Thanks though...i definitely love this lip!
