need help going lower!!!

i have 2nd gen speed3 on 1stgen coils.
i need to help on going lower in the rear, im currently running just the spring(no perch nor collars obvi), ive also heard that there is a nut on the rear shock that i can adjust to go lower but im not to sure if that is true so i dont want to mess with that. so if anyone with a first or second gen can help me out that would be great!!
