Was he using the extreme drop BC's, or the normal set? I'm wondering... with the right drop if a 17x8/17x9 would look good on a sedan. Those look fine.. but seem to share a pretty big wheel gap.

What wheels are you talking about? If your getting new wheels you do not have to follow others mistakes on the offsets and run spacers. Instead get the correct offset.

I want the rota gforce gold but i actually have a regular mazda 3 not speed three so the fenders arent as wide... i was looking at the red ms3 picture. i want 18" but 8.5 wide is cutting it close i realize i need to roll my fenders and not lower my car very much. what do you think like 45 or 48 offset?? thanks btw

also where the bumper and fender meet in the rear i have a bit of rust so if cutting out will help for fitments im all for it.

What i found 18x8.5" 48 offset with fully adjustable camber on rear and ksport springs 1.3" drop all four. I noticed on the stock 17" their is little clearance for the rear trailing arms and front shocks/struts maybe and inch or so. My guy at discount tire says it might work. lol

Damn Shavi.....your car has come a LONG way in the last year or so. From being lowered on springs/Rotas to being SLAMMED on coilovers/Rotiforms. Crazy!

18x9 +30. or even lower offset depending how much camber you want to have to run and how much of a stretch you want.

I might have the option very soon to run either 18x8 +35 (which is my current wheel spec and offset) or move up to 18x9 +36. I see that a lot of guys are starting to run 18x9 +30's, that gives them a little more room on the inner walls, is 6mm really that big of a deal?

It's not that the 6mm makes a huge difference... more so people just trying to squeeze every last bit of wheel they possibly can. I just mounted up a 17x9 ET+48 on my gen 2 and it only has a credit card thickness between wheel and strut and still pokes past the fender just a hair. 18x9+35 would be perfect. With a tad of stretch, natural camber from the drop, and some very mild fender work, you should be set.
