A prime example of this is Hayato Agena‘s FD3S RX-7 from Okinawa, Japan. We got the chance to talk to Hayato briefly about his FD. Special thanks to Yuki Kamizato for the photos.
Hayato, what led you to own the FD3S RX7? Did you come from something different before this?

“I fell in love with the FD3S RX-7 because of the Japanese manga “Initial D” and ended up buying one! Before that, I was driving a kei car (a small Japanese car).”

What inspired your modifications and styling?

“In Okinawa, Japanese and American car cultures are mixed together, and I’ve seen all kinds of cars! That’s where I got my current style from.”

What is the biggest challenge with modifying or styling the RX-7?
RX-7をカスタム・スタイリングする上で最も大変だったことは何ですか？
“The RX-7 is delicate in every aspect — the engine, suspension, everything was challenging. It was especially hard to fit wide wheels on such a small body!”

Anymore future plans for the car?

“Moving forward, I plan to clean up the interior and exterior, change the exhaust, add some small parts, and switch the ECU to a LINK one!”
